Work in progress of the artwork "行" vol 2 about SUMI ink
I told you that calligraphy is a 3D representation.
so, I try to that the black SUMI ink is adjusted to see how it can be expressed.
The ink penetrates down into the paper and then spreads out sideways.
If you observe the bleeds of ink well, you can see that it is inside the paper, not the surface. Then, I mixed the coarse particles ink that stay on the paper and the fine particles ink that penetrate inside,I thought that way would be possible to express it, and used ink like this.

This is called "KEZURIZUMI (shaved ink)". Burrs created when ink is put in a wooden mold to form, Ink that has been shaved off with a plane(KANNA). Originally it used to write lanterns(CHOCHIN) and Kabuki's MANEKI using this kind of ink. This time I got KEZURIZUMI, which is originally the finest ink. and then finely crush this with mortar.
By doing this, rough ink and fine particles ink can be mixed.
